The University of Worcester, formerly found as a Teacher Training College in the year 1946, (granted full university status in 2005), is at present one of the fastest growing universities across the United Kingdom. The University has enrolled more than 10,000 undergraduate, postgraduate and part-time students. Worcester was recently named by The Times newspaper as one of the top places to live. The University of Worcester has four beautiful sprawling campuses scattered across Worcester in the United Kingdom. The University is situated at Worcester City Centre. Located along a riverbank, the university’s Severn Campus offers modern study facilities, performance analysis suites, dance studios and the University’s Arena. The Lakeside Campus serves as an exciting activity and outdoor learning centre for students. St John’s Campus houses several student residence halls and teaching spaces. Graduated from University of Worcester with a PhD in Education. Swaroop Sampat is a known Indian actress who has acted in several Hindi films like Naram Garam and Nakhuda. She is also well known for her stint with television serials such as Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi. She bagged the Miss India contest in 1979 and also represented India at Miss Universe 1979. She was one of the top 10 Global finalists for Global Teacher Prize conducted by the Varkey Foundation, ranking amongst 10,000 nominations worldwide.
Between 2003 and 2006, completed a Joint Honours Bachelor of Arts in Media and Culture and Sports Science from the University of Worcester. Kyle Pryor is an popular English actor. He is recognised for his roles such as Nate Cooper in the Australian series Home and Away and Laurie Shelby in British soap, Hollyoaks. Prior to that he worked as a stunt man in films such as Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.
Jacqui completed her PGCE from the University of Worcester. Jacqueline Jill Smith is best known as a British Labour politician. She was a Member of Parliament for Redditch between 1997 to 2010, she was the first female Home Secretary and also the third woman to ever hold one of the Great Offices of State, after Margaret Beckett and Margaret Thatcher.
Sophie studied Sports Psychology at the University of Worcester. Sophie Carrigill is a 1.0 point English wheelchair basketball player who represented Great Britain at 2014 Women’s World Wheelchair Basketball Championship in Toronto and also at the 2016 Paralympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro.
Matthew Jonathan Raggett is an educationist and writer. He was also the headmaster of The Doon School, which is an all-boys boarding school in Dehradun city, India. Rob Cook is an English rugby union player, he played for Premiership side Gloucester as a fullback. Rob attended Worcester University, here he studied sports studies and also played for the rugby team. He was also the former Deputy Director of Sport and Director of Rugby at the King Edward VI Grammar School in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
In 2001 Waqar was awarded an Honorary master’s degree by the University of Worcester.
