The University of West London (UWL), is a public academic and research university in the UK, located at Greater London and Berkshire. It was established in 1992; formerly the Ealing College of Higher Education. It ranks among the Top 10 London Universities and among the Top 60 universities in the UK. The University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, research, doctorate programs, CPD and short courses. Recently, the university has inaugurated the West London Food Innovation Laboratory and the Westmont Enterprise Hub for innovative students and budding entrepreneurs in close proximity to other campuses. The new Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 rankings place the University of West London in the 56th place nationally. The University now proudly sits on the top half of UK universities which is credible. The University ranks 8th among top 10 London Universities as per the Sunday Times (2020) ratings. The Times as well as the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021 ranked it as 52nd overall and 4th for teaching quality. As per the NSS, in the year 2016, there were 100 percent overall satisfaction rate recorded for nine courses across the University’s eight schools, including the Midwifery to Business Studies and Music Technology to even Hospitality Management. Among these 100 per cent overall satisfaction rates, the University also recorded the best overall satisfaction rates in the United Kingdom for Civil Engineering and Building courses as per the NSS 2016. They pride themselves on delivering world-class education through expert faculty, teaching methods, practical, career-oriented training and internships. In fact, they ranked the highest in the National Student Survey for student satisfaction in 2016. UWL’s Career and Employment Service was awarded Matrix Standard for Quality. Their most well-known course is Hospitality, which won the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for teaching excellence.
The University of West London has two campuses in Greater London Campus at Ealing (St. Mary’s Road) and Brentford (Paragon House) and a third campus in Reading, Berkshire. The campuses have been upgraded to the latest, modern infrastructure built with high-tech equipment. The Berkshire Institute for Health, located at the Fountain House in Reading town centre, offers nursing and midwifery programmes in corporation with the NHS. The Ealing site of the West London Campus has excellent facilities that include the Paul Hamlyn Library which is accessible 24/7 during the term-time, an auditorium, a student radio station, music studios, high-tech labs, mock courtrooms, eateries and cafés, as well as a huge sports centre. The Brentford site is domicile to the Nursing Simulation Centre, as well as the Paragon halls of residence. UOS has an impressive Sports and Fitness centre at Ealing Campus. It feature a state-of-the-art gym, studio halls and offer a range of sports services. The Students’ Union is the UWLSU which represents students at the university level. It works to assist, advise and support students, arrange campaigns and act as a voice for all members. They conduct all-year events and help students join several UWL clubs and societies.
UWL’S award winning libraries are fully equipped with an impressive book and e-resource collection, 24 hour online service, access to individual and group study areas and quiet zones and on-site services. There are 27 studio apartments available that consist of bigger private areas with kitchen facilities already integrated. Rent is inclusive of utilities and insurance. UWL offers scholarships, bursaries and grants to national and international students. They offer about 100 International Ambassador Scholarships for Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes. Derek Ridgers is a British photographer, he is known for his famed photography of music, film as well as club/street culture. Peter ‘Pete’ Dennis Blandford Townshend is an English multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. He is well known for his 50-year association with a rock band called ‘The Who’, he was the co-founder, songwriter, the guitarist and secondary vocalist. In the year 1983, Townshend received ‘Brit Award for Lifetime Achievement’ and thereafter in 1990 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Who.
