The University of Greenwich has a breathtaking campus in London and Kent which hosts overs 25,000 students from across the globe. One of the leading public universities in the city, the University of Greenwich offers a wide spectrum of subjects across its four main faculties:
Recent studies reveal that the University has scored high for student satisfaction especially for these programs – English Language and English Language Teaching; Computer Security and Forensics, Business Administration. The University is also known to excel in Computing with Games Development, Mathematics, Midwifery; and Public Health. One of the top scoring courses include two of the University’s Diplomas in Children’s Nursing and Nursing Studies which has achieved 100% scores as per recent statistics.
A Silver rating was also awarded to Greenwich University for excellence in the Teaching Excellence Framework. The University also has many more accolades including three Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education.
The three campuses include Avery Hill in south east London, the Greenwich campus next to the Greenwich Maritime Institute and Medway campuses in Kent.
The Avery Hill campus has easy access to the city and is located in Eltham. It is surrounded by greenery and beautiful fields and yet not too far from the city. Avery Hill Campus has two main sites – the Mansion Site and the Southwood Site. Both sites are located on an 86-acre Avery Hill Park in the Royal Borough of Greenwich in the south-east of London. This campus is home to the ‘Faculty of Education & Health’. Facilities in the Avery campus include computer laboratories, a huge library, a TV studio. Students can also access a sports hall. There are a number of clinical laboratories which replicate the NHS ward, which allow students to get hands-on experience. The centre of the campus also has a food outlet and a gym for the fitness enthusiasts. For those interested in sports there are rugby, football and netball pitches to name a few.
The Medway Campus on the other hand is a modernised Edwardian redbrick based campus. This campus is mainly for the Schools of Engineering and Science. Interestingly, the campus has historical significance and is located on the former shorebase HMS Pembroke. The Faculty of Engineering and Science which is based in this campus has a centre for research and consultancy. The Medway campus is also the home to the Medway School of Pharmacy. The Faculty of Education & Health has on offer a number of programmes. The facilities here include laboratories, a computer studio and a number of workshop and training dispensaries. Students also have access to a sports hall and gym.
Greenwich is one of the largest campuses and is located on a famous World Heritage Site right by the banks of the river Thames. Located in the Old Royal Naval College, the campus is beautiful and makes for the perfect place to relax and study. With architecture of the building going back up to the 17th Century, the campus is surely one of the historic and beautiful campuses not just in the United Kingdom but in the world. The Business School and Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences is based in the Greenwich campus. The campus holds a large fully stocked library, language laboratories, computer laboratories and editing studios.
The University of Greenwich is quite popular with international students looking to study in the UK. Be it a privately rented accommodation or a campus accommodation, the University guarantees that all new students will be given a place to live. This could either be a hall of residence or a University of Greenwich-approved housing outside the campus.
