MBA programmes in the UK cost on an average anywhere between £14,000 per year tof £30,000. Some prestigious schools that boast of world famous alumni can charge hefty fees of £30,000 to £60,000. For those students who are looking to save some costs can apply to the ample amount of scholarships available. If you have a good academic background you may even land a full scholarship. A number of other smaller scholarships ranging anywhere between £1000 to £5000 can also be availed. Do bear in mind to apply for these scholarships well in advance as they are most often available on a first come basis.
To be selected for an MBA Programme in the UK, students are required to have at least an upper second class honours degree or an equivalent of this. In addition, most universities require a minimum of three to five years full-time continuous work experience to be eligible to pursue an MBA. This work experience comes handy in understanding the business concepts better during the programme.
Unlike other countries, you don’t require a GMAT or GRE to apply for an MBA in the UK. However if you are applying to some of the top ranking Universities you may be required to submit scores for The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). With hundereds of applications pouring from across the globe, the test scores become a way of selecting the most elite students for the top Business Schools. GMAT test lasts for three and half hours and you would require a score of 600 out of 800 to be eligble to apply to a top UK University. The GMAT test is divided into four sections which tests your skills in Analytical Writing, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal.
For students applying from abroad or those who have not previously lived or studied in a native English speaking country, IELTS is a must. For MBA in particular, students are required to score 7.0 overall in IELTS. In addition, you cannot go lower than 6.5 score in any of the individual test sections.
English language scores secured in the Higher Secondary (in your country) are considered by select institutions in Britain. IELTS is therefore not mandatory for some UK Universities.
