One of the top 20 research-led Universities in the UK, Loughborough University is located in the market town of Loughborough, Leicestershire. It was deemed university since 1966, but the institution can be traced back to 1909, when the Loughborough Technical Institute was founded. The institute has been fragmented into four separate colleges including the Loughborough Training College (teacher training), College of Art (art and design), College of Further Education (technical and vocational) and College of Technology (technology and science). The University consists of 20 academic departments and nearly 100 research groups, institutes and centres across the ten schools.
